Hardy Boys Records Expands to South End — Charlotte’s Vinyl Scene Just Got Louder

Charlotte, NC — One of Charlotte’s favorite family-owned record stores, Hardy Boys Records, has just opened a brand-new location in South End — giving music lovers another place to dig for rare vinyl, exclusive merch, and community vibes.

Located at 1616 Camden Road (right next to Leroy Fox), this second brick-and-mortar store opened its doors on August 9th in the former 704 Shop space — and it’s already buzzing with music fans.

Why This Matters for Charlotte’s Music Lovers
Even in today’s streaming era, vinyl record sales are booming. According to the Recording Industry Association of America, vinyl sales hit $1.4 billion in 2024 — marking the 18th consecutive year of growth.
For Charlotte, that means more places to shop local, support artists, and connect with fellow music fans. And Hardy Boys is a prime example of that movement.
“I really believe people want community. They want a connection with everyone else in the room,” says co-owner Dean Hardy.

What You’ll Find at Hardy Boys Records – South End
Whether you’re a seasoned collector or just starting your vinyl journey, the new South End location offers a carefully curated mix of music and merch:
  • New & vintage vinyl across all genres
  • Cassette tapes & CDs
  • Band tees & exclusive Hardy Boys merch
  • Sell or trade your records, CDs & tapes (cash or store credit)
  • $6 photo booth with both color and black-and-white options

While the South End shop focuses on music, other Hardy Boys locations (like those inside Homestyles Gallery in Mint Hill and The Brass Grasshopper in Matthews) also carry comic books.

From Pop-Up to Charlotte Favorite
Hardy Boys Records began in 2018 when husband-and-wife team Dean and Tiffany Hardy started selling vinyl online and at pop-up events. The demand grew so quickly that they opened their first physical store at Camp North End in 2023 — a location that’s been a huge success.

Now, with South End’s popularity and foot traffic, the Hardys are confident this store will be another hit.
