Stephen Curry Brings Luxury Cocktail Lounge to Uptown Charlotte's Ritz-Carlton

Stephen Curry's The Eighth Rule cocktail lounge opening at The Ritz-Carlton in Uptown Charlotte
Stephen Curry Brings Luxury Cocktail Lounge to Uptown Charlotte's Ritz-Carlton

Charlotte's luxury dining and nightlife scene just landed a major headline.

NBA superstar Stephen Curry and his wife, entrepreneur and restaurateur Ayesha Curry, have announced plans to bring The Eighth Rule, an upscale bourbon-focused cocktail lounge, to The Ritz-Carlton Charlotte in Uptown. The concept is part of a larger transformation underway at the Ritz, which will also introduce Sweet July Cafe and the nationally acclaimed Bourbon Steak by Michelin-starred chef Michael Mina. The Eighth Rule is expected to open in late winter.

For Charlotte, this is more than another restaurant opening. It's a homecoming.

Although Curry became a global icon through his basketball career, his roots run deep in the Charlotte region. He attended Davidson College, met Ayesha in Charlotte as a teenager, and remains one of the city's most recognizable success stories. Their decision to invest in Uptown adds another layer to Charlotte's growing reputation as a destination for luxury hospitality, dining, and entertainment.

What Is The Eighth Rule?

The Eighth Rule is described as an intimate, bourbon-forward cocktail lounge featuring craft cocktails, rare pours, elevated small plates, and a social atmosphere designed around conversation and community. The concept already has ties to successful hospitality ventures associated with the Curry family and Michael Mina's restaurant group. Guests can expect a sophisticated setting that blends luxury, storytelling, and premium spirits.

According to Curry, the goal is to create a place where guests can gather, celebrate, and create their own traditions while enjoying elevated food and beverage experiences.

Why This Matters for Uptown Charlotte

Over the last decade, Uptown Charlotte has evolved from a business district into a true urban neighborhood. New residential towers, luxury condominiums, hotels, professional sports venues, museums, restaurants, and entertainment destinations have helped reshape the center city experience.

The arrival of a celebrity-backed concept at The Ritz-Carlton reinforces a trend many residents have already noticed: Uptown is attracting nationally recognized brands, chefs, and hospitality concepts that once bypassed Charlotte altogether.

For condo owners and residents in buildings such as The Trust, The Ratcliffe, The Avenue, and SKYE Condominiums, additions like The Eighth Rule further enhance the walkable lifestyle that continues to draw buyers to center city living.

The Ritz-Carlton's Next Chapter

The cocktail lounge is part of a larger renovation and repositioning effort underway at The Ritz-Carlton Charlotte. Alongside The Eighth Rule, visitors can expect the arrival of Sweet July Cafe, Ayesha Curry's lifestyle-focused cafe concept, as well as Bourbon Steak, one of Michael Mina's signature luxury steakhouse brands. Together, the three concepts represent one of the most significant hospitality investments Uptown has seen in recent years.

A Win for Charlotte

Whether you're a bourbon enthusiast, a longtime Steph Curry fan, or simply someone who enjoys watching Charlotte continue to grow, The Eighth Rule is poised to become one of Uptown's most anticipated openings.

As Charlotte continues attracting major employers, luxury residential development, and national attention, projects like this help reinforce what many residents already know: Uptown Charlotte is becoming one of the Southeast's most dynamic urban centers.

And soon, one of basketball's biggest names will have a permanent place in the heart of it.

West Charlotte’s Next Big Gathering Spot? Savona Mill Is Starting to Feel Real.

5/27/2026

For years, Charlotte development followed a familiar formula:

Glass.
Steel.
Ground-floor retail.
A few nice renderings.
Repeat.
Picture
Picture
And to be fair, the city needed growth.

But lately, something has started to shift.

People are looking for places with more texture.
More identity.
More authenticity.

That’s part of why Savona Mill is starting to get real attention.

Tucked along the Stewart Creek Greenway just minutes from Uptown, the historic mill property is evolving into one of the more interesting adaptive-reuse projects in Charlotte — and the upcoming food hall component could become a major piece of that momentum.

Because this project already feels different.

Not manufactured-different.
Actually different.

The original mill dates back more than a century, and instead of flattening that history, the redevelopment leans into it. The heavy timber structure, exposed brick, industrial scale, oversized windows, and layered outdoor spaces give the project something a lot of newer developments struggle to create:

Character.

Real character.

And Charlotte responds to that when it’s done well.

You saw it with Optimist Hall.
You see it in parts of South End that still retain warehouse bones and industrial energy.
You even see it influencing how newer mixed-use districts are being designed now.

Savona Mill feels connected to that evolution — but with a distinctly west side personality.

That matters.

Because West Charlotte has quietly been building momentum for years. Between the greenway expansion, infrastructure investment, nearby neighborhoods like Wesley Heights and FreeMoreWest, and the continued push outward from Uptown, the area feels like it’s entering a different phase.

Not “up and coming.”

Arriving.

And the food hall concept could accelerate that perception quickly if the operator mix lands correctly.

That’s usually what separates projects that become destinations from projects people visit once.

The successful ones create rhythm.

Coffee in the morning.
Work meetings in the afternoon.
Outdoor events at night.
Weekend energy.
A reason to keep coming back.

Savona Mill already feels like it understands that formula.

The site programming, outdoor gathering areas, greenway connectivity, event spaces, and layered architecture all point toward something bigger than just another mixed-use development.

It feels like an attempt to build a district.

And honestly, Charlotte could use more projects like that.

Because the city’s most memorable places usually are not the newest towers.

They’re the places that feel like they’ve developed a personality over time.

Savona Mill has a chance to become one of them.

Why Publications Like HAVEN Matter for Sellers

Luxury real estate marketing today is about far more than MLS exposure.

High-end buyers consume real estate differently. They browse aspirational publications, lifestyle media, curated social feeds, relocation content, and editorial-style features that tell a story about the home — and the lifestyle attached to it.

That’s where HAVEN stands apart.

Their platform reaches a broad audience of affluent buyers, luxury homeowners, relocation clients, investors, and real estate enthusiasts through:
  • Digital magazine distribution
  • National and regional luxury readership
  • Social media amplification
  • Lifestyle-focused editorial presentation
  • Long-tail online visibility through indexed content

For our sellers, this means their homes aren’t simply “listed.” They’re showcased.

Strategic Exposure Beyond the MLS

At WeSellUptown.com, we believe exceptional properties deserve layered marketing exposure.

A luxury property campaign should include:
  • Professional photography and cinematic video
  • Social-first marketing
  • Targeted digital advertising
  • Search engine optimization
  • Agent-to-agent networking
  • Editorial and publication exposure
  • Strategic brand alignment

Features like HAVEN help create authority, credibility, and additional digital footprint for a property — all of which can contribute to stronger engagement and broader reach.

Charlotte’s Luxury Market Continues to Grow

Charlotte continues to attract high-income professionals, executives, entrepreneurs, and relocation buyers from across the country. As the city evolves, so does the sophistication of its luxury real estate market.

Publications like HAVEN help put Charlotte homes in front of buyers who may not have otherwise discovered them through traditional search channels alone.

For our clients, that expanded visibility matters.

Thinking About Selling?

If you’re considering selling a luxury condo, penthouse, townhome, or distinctive residence in Charlotte, strategic marketing matters more than ever.

Exposure drives opportunity.

And the right presentation — to the right audience — can make a meaningful difference in how a property is perceived and how it performs in the market.

Charlotte Ranked the Fastest-Growing Major City in America

5/15/2026

Picture

Charlotte has officially claimed the top spot as the fastest-growing major city in the United States, according to newly released U.S. Census data. Between July 2024 and July 2025, the Queen City added more than 20,700 new residents, bringing the estimated population to 964,784.
That population jump helped Charlotte maintain its position as the 14th-largest city in the country while narrowing the gap with San Jose for the No. 13 ranking nationally.

While the city continues to expand at an impressive pace, the overall rate of growth eased slightly compared to the prior year. Charlotte recorded 2.2% population growth in 2025 versus 2.8% growth during the previous reporting period.

Fastest-Growing Cities in America for 2025

According to Census estimates, these cities experienced the largest numeric population increases over the past year:

Rank City State Population Increase 2025 Population
1 Charlotte North Carolina 20,731 964,784
2 Fort Worth Texas 19,512 1,028,117
3 San Antonio Texas 14,359 1,548,422
4 Celina Texas 12,710 64,427
5 Seattle Washington 11,572 784,777
6 Houston Texas 11,515 2,397,315
7 Fulshear Texas 11,196 64,630
8 Nashville-Davidson Tennessee 9,244 721,074
9 Port St. Lucie Florida 9,131 268,062
10 McKinney Texas 8,504 236,001
11 Atlanta Georgia 8,350 529,110
12 Jacksonville Florida 8,319 1,017,689
13 Surprise Arizona 7,702 175,304
14 Columbus Ohio 7,696 938,396
15 Goodyear Arizona 7,690 125,359
Where Are Charlotte’s New Residents Coming From?

Much of Charlotte’s population surge is being fueled by migration from higher-cost states and major metro markets, including New York, New Jersey, California, Florida, Illinois, and the Washington D.C. metro area.

Many newcomers are relocating to Charlotte for its balance of career opportunities, lower taxes, relative affordability, and lifestyle advantages compared to larger coastal cities.

The city’s growing financial and corporate sectors continue to fuel demand as well. Employers, including JPMorgan Chase, SMBC, and Citigroup, are expanding their footprint in the region, bringing thousands of high-paying jobs into Uptown Charlotte and surrounding areas.

Honorable Mention: Fort Mill’s Growth Surge

Just across the state line, Fort Mill deserves its own spotlight. Fort Mill led the Charlotte region on a percentage-growth basis, growing 6.8% and reaching nearly 39,000 residents. That pace ranked the town among the 20 fastest-growing midsized cities in America.

The rapid expansion highlights how Charlotte’s growth is extending far beyond the urban core, with surrounding suburbs continuing to attract buyers looking for newer housing, strong schools, and proximity to Charlotte’s employment centers.

What This Means for Charlotte Real Estate

The latest Census data reinforces what many residents already experience every day — heavier traffic, nonstop construction, expanding infrastructure, and continued demand for housing throughout the metro area.

From Uptown condos and luxury penthouses to suburban communities stretching across the Carolinas, population growth continues to reshape the Charlotte real estate market. While pricing has normalized in some sectors following the ultra-competitive post-pandemic years, long-term demand drivers for Charlotte remain firmly intact.

For buyers, sellers, and investors alike, the message is becoming increasingly clear: Charlotte is no longer an emerging market. It has become one of the country’s primary relocation and growth destinations.

Why Dilworth Walk Is One of Charlotte’s Most Livable Addresses

5/7/2026

Picture
There are some places in Charlotte that simply feel different the moment you arrive. Dilworth is one of them.

Tree-lined streets. Historic architecture. Sidewalk cafés filled on a Tuesday afternoon. The kind of neighborhood where people walk their dogs to coffee shops, meet friends at the park without planning it, and choose to stay for years because daily life feels easier here.

That’s exactly what makes living at Dilworth so appealing — and why homes inside Dilworth Walk continue to stand out for buyers who want more than just square footage.

This particular one-bedroom residence offers something increasingly hard to find in walkable urban neighborhoods: space that actually lives comfortably.
Unlike many newer one-bedroom condos that prioritize density over livability, this home features one of the larger one-bedroom floor plans in Dilworth. The open-concept layout feels bright, connected, and functional from the moment you walk in. Large windows and soaring ceilings allow natural light to move through the main living area, creating an airy feel that makes the home live much larger than expected.
Picture
Picture

The kitchen blends modern finishes with everyday usability — granite countertops, glass backsplash, under-cabinet lighting, and generous cabinetry create a space equally suited for a quiet morning coffee or hosting friends before dinner nearby.
And in Dilworth, “nearby” is part of the lifestyle.

Step outside and some of Charlotte’s favorite destinations are already within reach. Residents enjoy easy access to Latta Park and Freedom Park — two of the city’s most beloved green spaces for walking, running, relaxing, and reconnecting outdoors.

The neighborhood itself has become one of Charlotte’s defining lifestyle districts. Independent coffee houses, boutique shopping, neighborhood wine bars, chef-driven restaurants, and historic bungalow-lined streets all combine to create an atmosphere that feels established, authentic, and difficult to replicate.

That balance between historic charm and modern convenience is what continues to draw buyers toward Dilworth over trend-driven neighborhoods that can sometimes feel temporary by comparison.

Inside the condo, the spacious primary suite includes two closets and direct access to a well-appointed bath, while French doors open to a private covered balcony — a quiet extension of the living space that fits perfectly with the neighborhood’s slower, more connected pace.

Practical details matter too. Secure building access, assigned gated parking, visitor parking, and a recently replaced water heater (April 2026) add everyday convenience and peace of mind to the experience.

But ultimately, homes like this are about more than features.

They’re about waking up on a Saturday and walking to coffee instead of driving.

Meeting friends for dinner without checking traffic.

Being minutes from Uptown while still feeling connected to a real neighborhood.

That’s the difference with Dilworth.

And it’s why opportunities inside Dilworth Walk tend to resonate far beyond the walls of the condo itself.
