Fast Fact: The neon Ratcliffe's Flower sign still hangs outside the Mediterranean Revival Style Ratcliffe Flowers building, a Charlotte landmark. Built in the 1920s, the building that originally housed a florist shop became a restaurant (Carpe Diem) in the 1990s which is now Bernardin's. When the building was transformed into the midrise Ratcliffe Condos in 2002, the shop was moved during construction and then replaced in its original position. The residential and retail building was then constructed around the original Ratcliffe's shop.
